The UCSF Department of Medicine was ranked #1 in the nation for its internal medicine program by US News & World Report. The ranking system combines peer assessments (from deans and residency directors) with data such as NIH funding and student selectivity.
Marvin Sleisenger, who served as Chief of the Medical Service at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and Vice Chair of our Department of Medicine for nearly 40 years, passed away at the age of 93 on October 19, 2017. A celebration of his life was held on Tuesday, November 14, 4-5:30pm at Cole Hall.
In a first for hospital infection control, a team of researchers led by Sara Murray used electronic health record (EHR) geospatial data to track down the source of a common hospital-acquired infection, C diff. The UCSF Health Informatics Team will continue to push the boundaries of EHR data to tackle healthcare's hardest problems. Read more here.
