Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The UCSF Internal Medicine Residency has a long history of leadership in and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. We have embodied this commitment over several decades, from the establishment of the Residency Diversity Committee in 1993 and the Health Equity and Advocacy Track in 2005, to being one of the first residency programs to adopt a holistic review of applicants in 2016 and developing the Anti-Racism Solidarity Coalition in 2020. UCSF residents and faculty are focused on providing equitable care for all patients and promoting the growth of a diverse physician workforce. These practices are central to our mission of inclusive excellence as clinicians, educators, researchers, advocates, and leaders in health care. We firmly believe that each of us owns the work of creating more equitable, inclusive, and actively anti-racist practices in medical education and healthcare overall. Learn more below about the ways we do this, through our Residency Diversity Committee, recruitment efforts, DEI Education, and partnership with the robust institutional efforts of UCSF.
