Two Years After Dobbs: Impact on Abortion Access and Pregnancy-Related Care
Since the landmark Dobbs decision by the Supreme Court, restrictions on women's healthcare have surged, significantly altering the landscape. The resulting patchwork of state regulations has deepened legal uncertainty, exacerbated disparities in access to care, and affected treatments for both pregnancy complications and elective procedures. In this Medical Grand Rounds, we will explore the far-reaching implications of the Dobbs ruling on patient care and healthcare policies, the increased medical risks and delays now faced by patients, and the profound impact this has had on women's health.
Speaker:
Daniel Grossman, MD, a professor and vice chair of advocacy in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Science, directs the research program Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH). His aims to improve access to contraception and abortion in the US, Latin America, and sub-Saharan Africa. He has served on committees at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the World Health Organization, and has been an expert witness in several legal challenges to restrictive abortion laws, including Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt.
