Prostate Cancer in 2024: Recent Updates and Treatment Advances
Session moderated by Bob Wachter

Several recent scientific advances have revolutionized treatment for prostate cancer, the most common non-skin cancer in American men. Unfortunately, many patients develop treatment resistance through androgen receptor mutations and other forms of molecular trickery. In this Medical Grand Rounds, we will explore recent therapeutic advances, including imaging techniques and novel immunotherapies, dive into resistance mechanisms, and discuss promising new options for managing resistant cases and enhancing survival rates.

Speaker:
Rahul Aggarwal, MD, is the Thomas Perkins Distinguished Professor of Cancer Research and a medical oncologist in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at UCSF Health. He is the director of the UCSF Genitourinary Medical Oncology Program and associate director of clinical research in the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. His clinical practice focuses on patients with genitourinary malignancies including prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular cancer, while his research develops novel therapies and imaging modalities for patients with advanced prostate cancer.
