Bay Area Older Adult Community Resource of the Week – Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly
This week’s Geri Community Resource is: Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly (LBFE)
Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) is a non-profit organization, aiming to bring people together through life-enriching experiences between the young and old generations. LBFE has two main programs focused on reducing social isolation through the support of volunteers; The first program (Volunteer Program) will have volunteers committed to visiting an older adult twice a month for 6 months with the aim of building a long-lasting friendship. The second program (Tech Allies) will have volunteers to train each elder for a weekly 8-week training course that covers the basics and essentials of using a tablet at their own home. Vincent G. Pons Award
Conan MacDougall, PharmD, MAS receives the 2019 Vincent G. Pons Award in Clinical Teaching. The recipient is chosen by the fellows to recognize faculty who consistently dedicate themselves to excellence in teaching and mentoring.
Conan is acknowledged for his vast depth of clinical and pharmacologic knowledge and his talent in conveying this knowledge through his clear, concise, and humble manner. The ID Division offer our sincerest congratulations to this faculty member who is so well-deserving!
