Dementia Care Aware's Second Annual Conference Spotlights Progress and Partnerships in Newport Beach
The Dementia Care Aware team held its second annual conference from March 3-6 in Newport Beach, CA. The conference highlighted the ongoing work around dementia care from California State Departments as well as the successes and lessons learned from DCA partner organizations. There were over 75 attendees from DCA partner sites and clinics, California State Departments, and subject matter experts in the dementia field.

Krista Harrison Co-Authorized Study Published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management
Dr. Krista Harrison co-authored a study with former hospice colleagues published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management entitled "Use of auditing and feedback in an outpatient hospice setting: Quality and pharmacoeconomic oversight". This study reports that showing hospice clinicians their prescribing patterns for opioids, antipsychotics, and antidepressants (e.g. thequality improvement method of audit and feedback) resulted in unchanged or improved measures of pain management and simultaneous reduction in per-patient medication costs at one community-based hospice organization.
