Dr. Waseem Ahmad is a gastroenterologist who cares for patients with a broad range of digestive conditions and symptoms, such as heartburn, abdominal pain, changes in bowel habits and gastrointestinal bleeding. He provides colon cancer screening and works with patients on prevention. He also performs diagnostic procedures, including colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), a test that uses an endoscope (a long, flexible tube with a tiny camera) to examine the upper digestive tract.
Ahmad earned his medical degree at Rush Medical College. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of California, San Diego, where he also served as chief fellow.
