Thomas Reid, MD
HS CLINICAL PROFESSOR
Thomas Reid is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF in the Division of Hospital Medicine. He received his BA from Williams College, MA in Medical Sciences from Boston University, and MD from the University of Rochester, where he also completed a residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics and a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is a certified massage therapist. Thomas joined the UCSF faculty in 2010.
CLINICAL ACTIVITIES:
Thomas's clinical work is primarily as an inpatient adult and pediatric palliative medicine consultant, where he works with seriously ill patients and their families to relieve pain and other symptoms, provide support, and help them receive healthcare driven by their personal goals. He also works as a Medicine Hospitalist and supervises Palliative Medicine fellows in the outpatient Symptom Management Service clinic at Mt. Zion.
ACADEMIC AND EDUCATIONAL PURSUITS:
Thomas is the Associate Program Director for the UCSF Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program and Director of the 4th year Medical Student elective in Palliative Medicine. He is currently developing curricula in clinical communication training. He also serves as a panelist for the Admissions Committee of the UCSF School of Medicine.
