Christy Soran, MD, MPH
Assistant Professor
Christy Soran is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH). She is a primary care clinician and educator in the Richard Fine People's Clinic at SFGH and the Medical Director at the Outpatient Buprenorphine Induction Clinic (OBIC) through the Division of Substance Use and Addiction Medicine. She is a faculty member with the UCSF Internal Medicine San Francisco General Primary Care Residency and UCSF Primary Care Addiction Medicine Fellowship. Her areas of interest are the integration of addiction medicine treatment in primary care, the overlap of substance use and chronic pain, medical curriculum, and educating herself and trainees about patient-empowered clinical care and building trustworthiness in medicine.
Dr. Soran received her undergraduate degree in Political Science and Philosophy at Boston College and a Masters of Public Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her Internal Medicine residency training in the UCSF San Francisco General Primary Care track followed by a chief resident year as the Internal Medicine Ambulatory Chief Resident. She completed the UCSF Primary Care Addiction Medicine Fellowship.
