Congratulations to Irena Cenzer, PhD for receiving a FY2025 SPOT Award!  Irena was nominated by Dr. Ashwin Kotwal for her excellent support in providing timely analysis for a large grant including complex power calculations, sample size, and sensitivity analyses. Irena also helped to ensure on-time abstract submissions for mentees/trainees through analysis, despite multiple competing demands.  Congratulations on this well-deserved award!

Jennifer Lai Awarded the AGA Young Investigator Award in Clinical Science

Jennifer Lai, MD, MBA in UCSF Gastroenterology was awarded the American Gastroenterological Association "Young Investigator Award in Clinical Science". Dr. Lai has pioneered a research program in frailty in hepatology that is changing the way that gastroenterologists and hepatologists manage patients with liver disease. She has carved out a niche at the junction of aging and hepatology research that is particularly timely given the influx of older patients with cirrhosis being seen in clinical practice, as well as the rapid rise in cirrhotic patients with multiple co-morbidities and frailty seeking liver transplantation.
