Geri Spotlight: Mary Tran and Raymond Wong
The Geriatrics Spotlight initiative fosters community building within the Division, especially during this age of hybrid/remote work where it can be challenging to find ways to interact with colleagues outside of your immediate teams. This is a way for Division members to learn more about all the wonderful work we’re doing!
This week, we get to know our division members, Mary Tran and Raymond Tran.

About Mary Role/Ongoing Projects
As an Administrative Coordinator for the Division, all of Mary’s work days look a little different. She is currently excited about planning and coordinating the 2024 Staff Appreciation activities as one of her favorite parts of her job is working with the amazing members of the Division! She especially enjoys being on a team with her fellow admin staff. She is proud to contribute to a high-functioning core team that is committed to providing reliable and quality support for the Division, no matter the request. Her core team members also happen to be some of the kindest, funniest, and most interesting people she has come across at UCSF since joining the community in 2021, which makes her work personally engaging and rewarding for her wellbeing.
Her role supports all three of the Division’s mission areas as facilitating connection and engagement between Division members supports’ people’s wellbeing at work which supports the quality of their work in teaching, research, and clinical settings.
What is a professional goal you would like to accomplish by the end of this year?
Mary would like to obtain professional training or certification in Project Management.
More about Mary
What is a “fun fact” about you that not many people know?
Mary had a severe peanut allergy until she grew out of it around the age of 17.
What would your backup career be?
In another lifetime (one where she isn’t a homebody and where better wages are standard), Mary would be a flight attendant. She loves to be able to see and experience new people and places, but she equally loves being home, and this lifestyle would (theoretically) ensure she would never take either of those privileges for granted.

About Raymond’s Role/Ongoing Projects
As a Medical Social Worker with UCSF Care at Home clinical program, Raymond completes risk stratifications and care plans for Care at Home patients. This helps RNs & SWs determine which areas of focus for caring for CAH patients. His role and work support the Division’s mission to provide high-quality care for patients.
