Dementia Care Aware Brings Expert Training to Shasta County: Dr. Anna Chodos Leads Cognitive Health Assessment Workshop

Last Wednesday, August 14th, Dementia Care Aware hosted an in-person education event in Shasta County, bringing training, resources, and discussions to support dementia care in rural and suburban counties.

Attendees in Shasta County enjoyed insightful presentations, including a training on the Cognitive Health Assessment: The Basics from Anna Chodos, MD, MPH, a review of local and statewide resources by Kindra Adcock Dantanavatanawong from the Alzheimer's Association, and a discussion around Advance Care Planning by Elizabeth Peters, JD, MPH from UC Law's Medical-Legal Partnership.

Amend at UCSF Participant Story Featured in The Marshall Project

Amend at UCSF participant Captain Toby Tooley shares his experience with the program in an article entitled, "I Struggled to Help a Prisoner. In Norway, I Found a Better Way" published in The Marshall Project. Captain Tooley's wife said he has "done a 180 socially, reacting more thoughtfully to tense situations". Amend at UCSF, founded and directed by Brie Williams, MD, MS, works to transform correctional culture inside prisons and jails and reduce the debilitating health effects of those environments.
