Mitchel Erickson Highlights Best Practices for Resident Emergency Department Care at Key Conferences
June 4, California Assisted Living Association Annual Conference: Mitchel Erickson DNP, MS, BSN, BSc, ACNP-C, delivered a presentation titled "Best Practices for Navigating Resident Emergency Department Care". He emphasized the 4Ms, AFHSs, and the importance of effective communication and partnerships between assisted living/SNF and EDs. The talk also covered early identification of geriatric syndromes and vital assessments at facility sites, centering on residents' healthcare priorities and self-identity as older adults.
June 10, American Delirium Society Annual Conference: Erickson led a panel with UC Medical Centers titled "Finding Delirium, Then What? Nurse and Advanced Practice Provider's Experiences in the Assessment of Delirium in Geriatric Emergency Departments". The session highlighted nursing and advanced practice provider experiences within accredited geriatric emergency departments, showcasing workflows, successes, and challenges in early delirium detection in the emergency department.
