ARDS: New Global Definition, Current Therapies, and Implementing Precision Critical Care
Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) remains a leading cause of critical illness worldwide. This Grand Rounds will review the new global definition of ARDS and highlight current evidence-based approaches to care. Speakers will discuss emerging research on molecular phenotypes and explore how advances in precision critical care may shape future clinical trials and patient outcomes.
Speakers:
Carolyn S. Calfee, MD, MAS, is a professor of medicine and anesthesia in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Sleep Medicine at UCSF Health. Her research focuses on the biology and treatment of ARDS and sepsis, spanning molecular phenotyping, precision medicine in critical care, and the impact of tobacco exposure on lung injury.
Michael Matthay, MD, is a professor of medicine and anesthesia in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Sleep Medicine at UCSF Health. His research focuses on improving clinical care for patients with acute respiratory failure from ARDS and sepsis.
