The Holly Smith Visiting Professor Lecture

For the 27th annual Holly Smith Visiting Professorship Grand Rounds, we welcome Vineet Arora, dean of medical education at the Pritzker School of Medicine and vice dean of education in the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago. Arora will explore the role of physician advocacy across clinical, professional, and personal contexts. Drawing on practical frameworks, she will discuss how physicians can make thoughtful decisions about when and how to advocate for their patients, their profession, and themselves.

The annual Holly Smith Visiting Professorship is the Department of Medicine’s most prestigious yearly lectureship. It is named for Lloyd Hollingsworth “Holly” Smith Jr., MD, a visionary physician-scientist whose uncompromising commitment to excellence helped transform UCSF into the world-renowned institution it is today. Smith served as chair of the UCSF Department of Medicine for 21 years, and associate dean for the UCSF School of Medicine for another decade.
