Department of Medicine Grand Rounds: Clinical Problem Solving with Gurpreet Dhaliwal

-

Clinical Problem Solving with Gurpreet Dhaliwal

Session moderated by Bob Wachter

For Grand Rounds next week, we have another Clinical Problem Solving (CPS) case to allow listeners to watch in real time how master clinicians reason through challenging cases. While getting the diagnosis “right” is amazing to see, the true learning comes from witnessing how experts navigate the zigs and zags of a diagnostic journey in a case that unfurls in real time (as it does in life, of course).

Our discussant will be Gurpreet Dhaliwal, MD. Gurpreet is a distinguished clinician-educator and scholar whose name has become practically synonymous with diagnostic reasoning. He is a professor of medicine at the San Francisco VA, where he directs the medical student internal medicine clerkship and sees patients in the ED, wards, and outpatient clinic. He is a member of the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators and the UCSF Department of Medicine Council of Master Clinicians. He has been a podcast guest on Freakonomics MDCurbsiders, Clinical Problem Solvers, Explore the SpaceBMJ Deep Breath In, and the Wall Street Journal Report. Following the case discussion, Parnassus Chief Resident Fangdi Sun, MD will offer some key teaching points based on her case preparation.

We are pleased to welcome you back to in-person Grand Rounds. The UCSF community can join us at Parnassus at HSW-300 (lunch provided); our extended community can still watch live on Zoom. As always, the session will be available on our YouTube channel a few days after the presentation.
