Residency Programs

The UCSF Internal Medicine Residency is a member of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education's Educational Innovations Project, one of only 21 internal medicine programs nationwide afforded this honor. Integration of patient safety and quality improvement principles into the resident curriculum has been a central part of the residency's EIP efforts. The residency program has developed a longitudinal patient safety and QI curriculum which emphasizes experiential learning in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. This core curriculum is complemented by elective experiences that help prepare residents for leadership roles in redesigning systems to improve health care quality.
