Promoting Research in Social Media and Health
Social media and health research may be broadly defined as research that utilizes social media data, platforms, or networks to inform public health promotion or prevention initiatives. As the only scientific meeting focused exclusively on social media and health research, the Promoting Research in Social Media and Health Symposium (PRISM Health Symposium) is an exciting gathering of experts in this cutting-edge field. The goal of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for collaboration among experts from multidisciplinary backgrounds - data scientists, engineers, linguists, behaviorists, medical experts, and more - engaged in this budding field. By harnessing the uniquely interdisciplinary nature of this work, we can advance it together through new collaborations. Participants from across academic and industry domains are encouraged to attend the 2017 PRISM Health Symposium, which will focus on ethics, dissemination, and opportunities for collaboration. This symposium is not an overview or introduction. The goal is for all of us to learn some specific methods in greater depth and talk with each other in enough detail to forge new collaborations.
