Dear DOM Faculty and Staff,
One year ago, the Department drafted its first Strategic Plan, with the input and work of more than 100 faculty, staff, and trainees. Our ambitious goal is to make the UCSF Department of Medicine the best in the country.
We write now with news about the first steps in the implementation of our Strategic Plan
First, we thank the many faculty, staff, and trainees who have moved our Strategic Priorities forward over the last year. You have made a big difference already.
STRATEGIC PRIORITY CHAMPIONS
Our seven Strategic Priorities are being led by 21 faculty and staff “Champions.” These include:

: Pat Cornett, Beth Harleman, and Sue Sheehan
: Dave Gardner, Jackie Maher, and Suzanne Sutton
: Andy Bindman and Bonnie Johnson

: Seth Landefeld, Margaret Wheeler, Tracy Schaefer, and Erik Wieland
: Michael Chen, Maye Chrisman, and Talmadge King
STRATEGIC PLAN WEBSITE
We have developed a website to facilitate work on the Priorities and so all faculty, staff, and trainees can learn how the Plan is unfolding:
Our Communications Team has just begun building the content for the website, which will grow over the coming weeks.
APPOINTMENT OF PROJECT MANAGER FOR THE DOM STRATEGIC PLAN
We have recruited Suzanne Kawahara, MBA, as Project Manager for the Strategic Plan. Suzanne Kawahara is an entrepreneurial management professional with broadly diversified expertise in business development, strategic planning, management and support services. She has worked in a wide variety of organizations including research universities, independent schools, financial institutions and startup companies.
