Education:
Dr. Dall’Era graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in immunology (1993). She then received her M.D. degree (1997) from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed her internal medicine residency (2000) and chief residency (2001) as well as her fellowship training in Rheumatology (2004) at the University of California, San Francisco. She joined the faculty of the University of California, San Francisco in the Division of Rheumatology in 2004. She became Director of the Clinical Trials Center in 2008.

Research Interests:
Dr. Dall’Era’s primary research interest is the study of novel biologic agents for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). She is currently involved in several phase I, II, and III clinical trials for both renal and non-renal SLE. She recently completed a phase Ib trial of atacicept (TACI-Ig) in SLE, and is currently participating in the phase II/III trials of atacicept in generalized lupus and lupus nephritis. Dr. Dall’Era and Dr. David Wofsy are the lead investigators on a trial of etanercept for the treatment of lupus nephritis sponsored by the Autoimmune Centers of Excellence. Dr. Dall’Era also directs the UCSF Lupus Clinic in which she follows approximately 300 patients with SLE.
