The Staff Achievement and Recognition (STAR) award program is a tool for rewarding staff contributions across the School of Medicine. Tier 1 and Tier 2 performance awards are given in recognition of an employee's exemplary achievements. Here are this year's award winners.
Tier 2 STAR Award Recipients
Holly Ames and Jane Ta have won this year's School of Medicine Tier 2 STAR Award. They were among the 16 awardees chosen this year across the entire School of Medicine in a competitive selection process. Tier Two Awards are granted to a small number of individuals whose contributions and performance stand out among all award recipients. Award recipients are those whose dedication to their jobs has few equals, who consistently exceed performance levels in their efforts to improve the School or the University, and who have distinguished themselves by their
commitment to excellence.

| Holly Ames |
Holly Ames, Financial Analyst, Central Administration
In addition to her already full workload, Holly was instrumental in several important initiatives in DOM this year. She helped design and implement DOM's online budget tool. She did numerous analyses in support of unusually-complex negotiations with the Medical Center for strategic support, in response to the new strategic support principles. She also is an active member of the "DOM Operational Efficiency Committee," offering realistic suggestions to everyday problems. She does all this with patience, a constant eye for improvement, a sense of humor and an unwavering positive attitude. |

| Jane Ta |
Jane Ta, Senior Academic Specialist, Central Administration
Jane joined the DOM Human Resources unit during a time of great change, and has quickly become an indispensable member of the team. We have been impressed by her ability to research issues quickly and independently and to be a fearless problem-solver. She is one of the primary reasons that Medicine faculty were renewed on time in 2007. She has collaborated with the Payroll Office to review the error patterns and work to find ways to eliminate them and develop "best practices." She takes every opportunity to work with more experienced staff on novel problems and is clearly motivated to solve problems and develop solutions. |
