Faculty Training on Clinical Trials Budgeting

Effective July 1, 2010, all Medicine faculty who want to engage in industry-sponsored clinical trials must attend a session of the Department's Clinical Trial Budgeting and Management Course (PDF).

The training is specific to faculty who are engaged in (or are interested in engaging in industry-sponsored) clinical trials. The course was designed to impart the knowledge and strategies needed to successfully budget, negotiate, and manage such. The Department invested in the development and provision of the course in response to the increased external scrutiny about correct billing and the need to ensure financially neutral studies. Industry-sponsored clinical trial contract proposals will be reviewed and approved only for those faculty who have fulfilled or who make a commitment to fulfill the requirement by the next course offering from the time of their proposal. Individuals who have fulfilled the course requirement are listed below. This roster will be updated, as appropriate.

Faculty who have managed at least 3 industry-sponsored clinical trials and who have managed such trials without incurring deficits may request a waiver from attending a session. Eligible PIs may fulfill the training requirement by reviewing the presentation materials and completing an attestation instead. Please e-mail Suzanne Sutton to request such waiver.
