The Medicine Consultation Service evaluates and treats medical problems in patients hospitalized on non-Medicine services. The MCS is available 24 hours a day at Moffitt-Long Hospital and Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute to assist with: Acute medical problems, e.g. respiratory distress, delirium, electrolyte disorders, venous thromboembolism Chronic medical problems, e.g. cardiopulmonary disease, diabetes, polypharmacy Preoperative medical evaluation and postoperative medical management for hospitalized patients Patients will be evaluated and followed by a hospitalist attending physician. The attending physician also supervises a Medicine resident who receives a curriculum on medical consultation and perioperative medicine.
