Microsoft Consolidated Campus Agreement (MCCA)

The Microsoft Consolidated Campus Agreement is a software license subscription which can save your division a lot of money. In general, this program only makes financial sense for Windows users. If a Mac user has more than one computer then it makes financial sense.

Instructions for starting/updating your subscription are on the CPBC web site. Here is a quick comparison of the Microsoft Select (standard educational software licensing) and MCCA programs. If you have any questions about MCCA please contact Erik Wieland.

Select MCCA
License period Perpetual — license never expires Annual — license is valid as long as the primary user is enrolled in MCCA
Software Assurance (automatic upgrades) Additional cost Included in cost
Licensed by Computer User — unlimited number of computers per user
License purchasing as-needed, required before installation annually, not required before installation
Annual cost $0 $35
Cost of upgrading Windows and Office every 3 years $105 $0
Cost of MS Project license $42 $1.33
Cost of MS Publisher license $26 $3.63
Cost of MS Visio Professional license $92 $3.71
Cost of Windows 7 upgrade from Dell (with a new computer) $55 $0

Please remember that it is the division's responsibility to track software licenses. If you enroll in MCCA, you only have to do this once a year, and only by FTE (rather than for each computer).
