Hal Yee Lab
The overall goal of the Hal Yee Laboratory is to discover strategies to prevent and treat fibrotic disease by elucidating the molecular and cellular signals that mediate the development of fibrosis in the liver and gut. We are currently studying the chemotaxis and migration of liver pericytes, also called stellate cells, into areas of injury during the development of fibrosis. We continue to investigate how the Rho kinase and myosin light chain kinase signaling pathways regulate the contractile force generation of stellate cells in the injury response. We have also begun to examine the behavior of intestinal pericytes and myofibroblasts in healthy and fibrotic tissue.
