HIV InSite
HIV InSite is developed by the Center for HIV Information (CHI) at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), one of the world's leading health sciences institutions. Within UCSF, HIV InSite is produced in collaboration with the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Centerand other components of the University's AIDS Research Institute. Launched in March 1997, HIV InSite's mission is to be a source for comprehensive, in-depth HIV/AIDS information and knowledge. The site has an extensive collection of original material, including the HIV InSite Knowledge Base, a complete textbook with extensive references and related links organized by topic. Unlike many commercially oriented sites, HIV InSite's policy is to link to the best of the Web, and thousands of links to external Web sites are incorporated into the site's original content. It is the policy of HIV InSite to allow free, anonymous access to all of the site's content.

Bernard Halloran Lab
Our laboratory is engaged in studies to understand the process of human aging at the cellular and molecular levels, and how age-related changes in cell function affect bone. We are also studying how bone senses and responds to mechanical loading or weight bearing.

Heart Failure Evaluation and Treatment Center
UCSF's multidisciplinary Heart Failure Evaluation and Treatment Center provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to all patients with all types of heart failure. Patients with advanced heart failure face multi-organ dysfunction as well as the risk of sudden death from life-threatening dysrhythmias. Care is therefore provided by a team of closely coordinated heart failure, electrophysiology and cardiac transplant experts.

Heart and Soul Study
The Heart and Soul Study is a prospective cohort study designed to determine how psychological factors influence the outcomes of patients with coronary heart disease. UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center
Housed within one of the nation's top biomedical research universities, the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center consolidates the work of researchers and clinicians who are dedicated to four fundamental pursuits:
Laboratory research into the causes and events of cancer's progression; clinical research to translate new knowledge into viable treatments; sensitive, state-of-the-art patient care; and population research that can lead to prevention, early detection, and quality-of-life improvement for those living with cancer. |
Wen-Chi Hsueh Lab
Our research theme focuses on genetic epidemiological studies of complex phenotypes, in particular aging- and metabolism-related traits in humans. Through the use of extended families and large cohorts of unrelated individuals, the goal of our research is to identify susceptibility genes, environmental risk factors, and their patterns of interaction for traits of interest.Ê We employ epidemiological principles, statistical tools and bioinformatics to perform linkage analysis and genetic association studies.Ê Study populations include extended families from the Old Order Amish, and large cohorts from the US and Mexico with extensive information from prospective long-term longitudinal follow-ups or national surveys. A new study was initiated to study centenarians in Okinawa, Japan.
